Hoofer Awards and Recognitions
Hoofer Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award
Purpose: The Hoofer Life Member Award represents the highest award bestowed by Hoofer Council on a member or past member of Wisconsin Hoofers. Award recipients receive free membership in all Hoofer Clubs for life. Individuals nominated to Hoofer Council for the award will be considered by a 3-5 person awards committee – chaired by the Secretary – that will examine the nominee’s qualifications and make a recommendation to Hoofer Council
Criteria:
- A recipient of the Hoofer Honorary Life Member Award has shown extraordinary dedication to the entire Hoofer organization, and throughout his or her experiences has embodied the Hoofer spirit. This individual has been influential in building leadership qualities in those worked with at Hoofers.
- This individual has shown a history of being a dedicated leader in a broad range of activities and has had a lasting impact on the organization.
- This individual has gone above and beyond what is typically expected of a Hoofer leader and has been innovative in creating ways to carry out the Hoofer mission, vision and values.
- This individual has helped to develop and extend the role of Wisconsin Hoofers in social education at the Wisconsin Union and on campus.
- This individual has made immeasurable contributions to Wisconsin Hoofers.
- The Hoofer Honorary Life Member Award will be awarded not more than once per Hoofer Council term. There Is no requirement that it be awarded during each Hoofer Council term.
Hoofer Distinguished Achievement Award
Purpose: The Hoofer Distinguished Achievement Award is meant to recognize outstanding achievement over time in a Hoofer leader. This award may serve as an alternative or precursor to the Hoofer Life Member Award. Award recipients receive a calendar year of free memberships to all Hoofer clubs. Individuals will be nominated to Hoofer Council as new business and discussed the following meeting.
Criteria:
- A recipient of the Hoofer Distinguished Achievement Award has shown extraordinary dedication to Hoofer clubs and activities, and has embodied the Hoofer spirit. This individual has worked to develop own leadership qualities during time at Hoofers and has been valuable in building the skills of others.
- This individual has had a history of involvement as a Hoofer leader.
- This individual has made significant achievements in the roles and activities that he or she has taken on at Hoofers, and will have a lasting impact on the future.
- This individual has gone above and beyond what is typically expected of a Hoofer leader and has been innovative in creating ways to carry out the Hoofer mission, vision and values.
Hoofer President’s Award
Purpose:
The Hoofer President’s Award serves as a means to recognize a Hoofer club member or member of Hoofer Council that is deserving of high recognition for his or her work throughout the year, but was not awarded one of the other annual Hoofer awards. The recipient will be chosen at the discretion of the Hoofer Council President. The Hoofer Council President may consider nominations entered for other Hoofer awards in making the decision, but is not limited to the nominations in selection.
Criteria:
- A recipient of the Hoofer President’s Award shows over the course of the year exemplary leadership and leadership development, dedication as a volunteer and a commitment to betterment of Wisconsin Hoofers through its mission.
- This individual goes above and beyond the typical expectations of his or her role, showing creativity and innovation that will have a lasting effect on those fulfilling the role in future years.
- This individual is deserving of recognition at a level above that of an individual club.
